What’s the difference between barbecue sauce and steak sauce?
I’ve just tried steak sauce and I HATE IT!

There isn’t a HUGE difference, but most steak sauces have more vinegar in them. They are meant to enhance the flavor of the steak itself, as opposed to actually flavoring the steak. Barbecue Sauce also tends to be sweeter than steak sauce.

Steak sauce is thickened worstishire(sp?) sauce. Bbq sauce comes in a wide range of flavors and is sweetened due to molasses and brown sugar.

i hate it too!
i think the only 2 differences are:
1. steak sauce is made for steaks in particular, while bbq sauce is make for like chicken, and pork… well basically anything you can bbq.
2. they are probably made from different bases.
because bbq covers such a wide range of meat and stuff.. it would probably have a more neutral base, where a steak sauce would have a different base, because it is just made for one meat.
